PRE CLINICAL IMAGING
At Alderley Park you have access to Medicines Discovery Catapult’s world-class capabilities and expertise in in vivo bioimaging and ex vivo bioanalysis of tissues. They have an experienced team with specialist technical expertise and extensive drug discovery know-how.
Their imaging platforms can be used to visualise in cells, tissues and rodents the biodistribution of molecules, track novel drug delivery and complex medicine modalities, and provide clear evidence of biomarker responses to novel drug candidates. Medicines Discovery Catapult can access specialist in vivo models and PET radiotracers to meet specific programme needs.
They provide imaging to enable quantification of:
- Drug Biodistribution and Organ accumulation in Rodents * PET distribution of radiotracer - e.g. 89Zr Radiolabelled distribution candidate - Distribution and accumulation of compound over time * Near Infra-Red and micro-CT bioimaging - Deep whole-body penetration and biodistribution * Bioluminescence imaging - Ability to perform lentiviral transduction of luciferase expressing cell lines and then image these within animal model
- Tissue Imaging of Pathway Changes and Drug Localisation * Mass Spectrometry Imaging - a High-content, approach that can provide targeted or untargeted molecular localisation and biomarker information on many molecules. Amenable to analysis of any flat surface (e.g. skin sections, organoid sections). MDC - DESI Mass Spectrometry Imaging and MALDI-Mass Spectrometry imaging, as well as omics measurement through high throughput mass spectrometry techniques. * Tissue pathology imaging capabilities using high resolution platforms to track molecular signalling * A suite of high resolution, confocal and super-resolution imaging platforms enables ex vivo tissue studies- for example building on top of the preclinical near infra-red imaging in animals with detailed tissue images
- Biomarker Studies * Preclinical use of a range of radiotracers such as 18F-FDG PET; 18F-FAZA PET and others * Spatial transcriptomic studies on molecular changes within multiple tissue subregions using Nanostring GeoMx that enables detailed understanding of drug responses with high spatial resolution
GLASS WASH
The on-site Glass Wash team is able is able to support your research by disinfecting and sterilising glassware from our recently refurbished glass wash and sterilisation facility, based in No. 21.
The facility is equipped with: :
- 2 x Getinge Lancer 1400LX industrial lab Glass Washers capable of * Hot or Cold wash cycles to suit your demands * Acid and Alkaline washes to remove biofilms, proteins, nucleic acids and chemical residues * Optional De-ionised water rinse * Dried with hot air (60-115°C)
- 2 X LTE Scientific 120L Touchclave R Steam autoclaves Steam autoclaves are considered the gold standard for sterilisation and utilise high temperature pressurised steam to sterilise a variety of glassware, labware and with liquids (buffers, media, water). This high temperature and pressure causes hydrolysis and coagulation of protein - killing bacteria, microbes, spores, and viruses leaving autoclave products sterile and ready for any application. Steam sterilisation typically involves exposing an item to steam at a temperature of 121°C for 10-15 minutes.
